Interacting with people with disabilities

Many people feel uncomfortable when they interact with a person with a disability. Interacting with people with disabilities requires commonsense, courtesy and sensitivity. People with disabilities are all different so need to be treated as individuals.

The best source of information about disability is the person with the disability. People with disabilities should be recognised experts on their own lives.

Think of the person first and the disability second.
