Legislation and disability

The Equal Status Act, 2000

This Act, although very much in its infancy, has relevance to Third Level Colleges.

All educational establishments are covered by the Act, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of:

• Gender
• Marital status
• Family status
• Sexual orientation
• Religion
• Age
• Disability
• Race
• Membership of the Traveller community
