Learning expectations

To cope with the University environment you need:

  • independence: Although there is help available, you must be willing and able to be independent.
  • self-motivation: You have to be able to work on your own a lot.
  • openness to working in groups: You will need to work with others in study groups and on projects.
  • ability to set your own goals: Decide what you want and figure out how to get it.
  • ability to manage your time: You need to keep track of regular appointments such as tutorials and lectures. You need to stick to deadlines
  • ability to work things out alone: Teaching staff will not give you the answers but instead will teach you how to find and develop the answers on your own
  • ability to work out most effective personal study patterns: When and where do you get the most work done?
