Preparing for study - what can I do now?

Familiarise yourself with Study skills and locate whatever information you need which is not supplied.

Reflect on past learning experiences using the tools supplied and teach yourself about your learning style.

Read any literature sent to you by the university. Check start dates and gather any writing materials, textbooks or filing/storage equipment you will need.

Set up a general information file – collect all information relating to your course, registration, accommodation etc. Finalise travel and accommodation details.

Familiarise yourself with libraries and book shops

Start to develop your Study skills now

• start keeping a journal
• brush up on your computer skills
• start reading critically and discuss what you read with others
• try to discipline yourself to sitting and reading or writing at a routine time
