Reasons for disclosure

Some important reasons can make you want to disclose during your process of job searching:

  1. Some employers are committed to non-discriminatory recruitment and employment procedures
  2. In an employment relationship, if you want to be trusted, you are expected to show honestly and good faith. Adjustments and accommodations may have to be negotiated
  3. If your disability is obvious, you may have to deal misconceptions. Disclosing will give you the opportunity to provide correct information and show how you have considered solving problems that may arise in the workplace
  4. You can disclose in a very positive way by making a firm statement, presenting your disability not as a problem but as a life experience that made you build a strong and mature personality. Talk about the skills and personal qualities that you can bring to the role.
