Step 3: Competencies checklist

List your strengths

Listing your strengths is a crucial step in your employment research. This will allow you to learn more about yourself. Listing your professional experience (internship or employment), and activities you have been involved in (leisure, sport, association member) will enable you to see how rich your background is.

  1. Listing your strengths will feed your argument and “sell” you more efficiently.
  2. Being aware of your weaknesses will enable you to anticipate difficult questions that may be asked during the interview, for example if there’s a gap in your CV prepare what you want to say about it.
  3. Knowing yourself will enable you to show your recruiter that you know your strengths and your limits.
  4. Knowing yourself will make your interviewer feel more confident.
