Congratulations: you have been invited to attend an employment interview! Your application attracted attention and you have succeeded in overcoming the first barrier. Now, you need to put all your energies into convincing the recruiter that you are THE best candidate.
Outlined in this module are 10 steps to help you prepare for your interview.
This is a basic but essential question. The understanding of this question will enable you to adopt the appropriate behaviour during the interview. The interview allows you to learn more about the position’s characteristics and enables both you and the recruiter to assess your suitability for the position.
You should look to confirm your interest for the work position offered
i.e. is the employment offered below your skills and expectations? If it
is you risk feeling frustrated in the position and may end up resigning.
On the other hand, the position offered may require skills you don’t
have yet and make you feel uncomfortable.
You need to bear in mind that the main preoccupation for the company is to avoid selecting the wrong person. The firm needs a candidate who will fulfil the requirements of the job. The “wrong” choice will cost the company time and money. Therefore, the recruiter will test your interest in the company and the work position, assessing your skills and personal qualities in relation to the position on offer.
In order to show that your profile fits with firm’s requirements, you need to reassure the recruiter concerning your competencies, your know-how and your personality without neglecting the disability question.
